MAME and coin-op alike are welcome here! RESOLVED!The issue was that the string was too short. Apparently the guy I bought it from would just retie it whenever it broke.
So it was about a foot too short and it was causing issues with the electronics. I restringed it and it works like a charm now!I just bought a Mega Crane by Elaut used. It is in great cosmetic shape and all the electronics, wires, and connectors look solid too.But, it has an issue of some kind, it will work about 1/4 of the time only.The rest of the time it will take coins and give credits fine, but when you move it and press the claw button it kinds of freaks out, makes a weird noise through the speakers and shows a '04' on the credit/time meter.
This to me seems like an error code/condition of some kind.But. I have no manual and can't find one online, and basic troubleshooting has not helped me get this working.I'm kind of lost as to what to do with this thing.
Its in great shape as I said, but I feel like I'm troubleshooting in the dark.Does anyone have any experience with these, or perhaps know someone who does? I've tried contacting the Elaut USA folks and will do so again tomorrow but nothing back from them yet.I posted a video on Youtube showing what it is doing:Sometimes when it errors out it won't even drop the claw, it just starts freaking out and doesn't drop at all.Any ideas?Thanks!. Thanks for the advice. I thought that too, and it does seem to work better when it does not have to go all the way down. I still do get errors occasionally though.I'm looking at having new gantry cables made. Elaut wants $90 and $60 for replacements which seems highly exorbitant to me. I can buy a soldering iron and a lot of wire/connectors for $150, not to mention shipping to Hawaii!EDIT: Do you have any idea how to change the string out?
